CEREC which stands for Chairside Economical
Restoration of Esthetic Ceramics is a method under the field of CAD/CAM (computer-aided
design and computer-aided manufacturing) dentistry. This technology was created
with the goal of restoring chipped, broken or damaged teeth, primarily aiming
to make the process of dental restoration safer, easier and faster.
Procedure
Can Be Finished in One Day
While conventional dentistry practices
necessitates multiple visits to the dentist to finish a crown restoration, the
CAD/CAM system allows the procedure to be finished in a single appointment. Usually,
crowns are created in an outside laboratory, and the patient may have to wait a
few weeks for the finished product to be delivered back to their dentist. With
CEREC, crowns are produced right there in the office and can be ready for
placement in a short span of time.
